Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics of Daridorexant: do we need to screen for gene variants and adjust our prescribing to obtain better outcomes?

This project investigates whether screening for specific gene variants may influence clinical outcomes in patients prescribed daridorexant, and whether pharmacogenomic data should inform prescribing decisions in sleep pharmacy practice.

Online pharmacy safety

Purple Pills: a study of promethazine supply through online pharmacies

A Newcastle University-funded study examining the supply of promethazine through online pharmacies, evaluating whether prescribing and supply practices align with professional and regulatory expectations around a medicine with significant misuse potential.

Qualitative research · SEED funded

Prescribing promethazine for sedation: insights from patients and professionals with lived experience

A SEED-funded multi-site qualitative study using focus groups to explore the use of promethazine for sedation from the perspectives of patients and professionals who are Experts by Experience, delivered in collaboration across six NHS trusts and universities.
